Research: Questions and Summary Blog

Summary:

The club I am planning to do my logo project on is Lady Phoenix Basketball Team. This club is run by a gym teacher from Brooklyn Millennium known as Bryan McCarthy aka Coach mcCarthy. This club is only for girls and its purpose is to give girls that love basketball a chance to compete with other schools in our division and to get better everyday at the sport. the main focus of this club is to build basketball, communication, and teamwork skills. This club is joint together with Brooklyn Millennium so it is open to girls fro both schools. The main color schemes for this club is white, red, and black which is of course school colors. The main theme is centered around Lady Phoenix and to also demonstrate that girls can compete too. The three fonts that i think would be good for this logo is fonts that are easily seen such as Times New Roman, Princetown Let, and lastly Myriad.

Questions:

What is the club about?
The club is working with athletes that love basketball to improve their skills.

What are the goals?
The goals of this club is to improve basketball,communication,and teamwork skills. To have an undefeated record. To win the division B championship.

How long has the club/activity been around?
Coach McCarthy has been the coach for the last four years. Before that Mr. Silverman was the coach for a couple of years but the club has been around since Millennium has become a high school.

What activities do you do?
We have a practice 3-5 times a week and games twice a week. On practice day we work out by doing cardio exercises. We also go over drills and plays for games.

What represents your club?
The school mascot, the Phoenix
The school colors which are white,red, and black.
The fact that we are girls.

What is the theme of the club?
The Lady Phoenix Basketball Team

What is the best part?
Becoming close with other girls from your school.
Learning how to play together.
Winning games and most importantly going far in the post season.
Building unbreakable bonds.

It is open to any girl from both Millennium's that have some experience playing basketball.

Transformation Project: Reflection

For this project I photographed my nephew. I chose to take pictures of him fo this project because I wanted to have playful silly transformation. my first idea was to have toys coming out of his head because he is a kid but that quickly changed because when I photographed him, all he wanted to do is stand like superman and that hit me, my nephew should be transformed into superman! To perform this task I changed the background because his pose looked like he was flying in the sky so I put the background to be the sky. Then I thought I did not want him to be typical superman so instead of making his suit blue and his symbol red, I did the opposite and instead of naming him as superman I named him as superman Ely. There you have it! My nephew Ely was transformed!

One thing i really enjoyed about this project was writing my steps out. I believe that really helped me understand how to work photoshop in a deeper complex level and it made it easy to create my transformation.

One thing that was difficult for me for this project was cropping out the excess background, that was really hard for me and frustrated me. If i would do this project over I would try to relax and not get frustrated at myself because it affected my work ethic.

Overall, i believe my transformation was strong and doing this project taught me a lot about how i work, and taught me how to work photoshop in a different light which i know will be very helpful in the future.

Transformation Project

Do Now: Which typeface would you be?

If I had to be a font; I would choose to be the Sans Serif typeface. I would choose this because I like that it does not serifs at the end of the letters and Sans Serif has a simple elegance which i really enjoy. The specific font that I would be is Josefin Sans.

Well Designed Logo: Not Familiar With

I think this logo is very well designed for many reasons. One I like that it is combination mark. I also like the fact that you have to oberserve the image for a good five seconds to notice that the A in artist and U in united join together to create the symbol which is a pencil. This logo I really enjoy becuase it is trying to objectify the idea artist united and the fact that the two words connect in the pencil really show the point that they are trying to make. Overall this logo was very creative, out of the box, and most definitely very well designed.

Favorite Logo: Well Desgined

My favorite Logo:

This is my favorite logo becuase it is universal. I also like this logo becuase it is a combination mark and I feel like the symbol is universal and the words always connect back to Mcdonalds. It is also my favorite because the words catch your eye. It makes you think oh what are you loving and makes you want to try Mcdonalds food. This logo was very well designed and this is why it is my favoirte logo becuase it was perfecttly made and really catches your eye well at least mine.
 

Concept and Reflection

Concept: My concept is summer. I started off with ice cream because ice cream is like the best treat in the summer and I transformed it into a bathing suit and my final dymbol because in Summer people are always wearing bathing suits and bathing suits are you only used in summer.

Reflection: 

The most frustrating part of the project for me was layering. I would usually forget what layer I was in and then I would erase and I would be on the wrong layer. This frustrated me because I thought the computer was broken and then I realized after about twenty minutes that I was on the wrong layer and that frustrated me a lot. I think I have to pay closer attention to which layer I am on but, at the end of the project I learned the difference between layers and I felt proud of myself because I felt like I actually learned something through the project process. Front this experience I realized that I have to learn how to work the computer by myself because it would benefit me the most and will help me with future projects. I also learned from this experience to keep the sheet with all the information next to me because I could get my questions easily answered from that packet. After completing this project I feel most confident in using the eye- dropper tool and creating new layers because I needed to use the eye- dropper tool a lot to get the color I used in a previous layers and creating new layers because I had a lot of layers so I practiced making new layers a lot. One thing I wish I would be better at and hopefully I do get better at is using the paint brush tool because I am a horrible drawer  so I do not like using it but I think if I practiced with it more it would be very helpful to me in future projects. I would like to use photoshop in the future to create more gifs because they are really cool and to edit pictures that I take because I think there are amazing tools on photoshop that could edit a picture that I have taken beautifully.
